The Lumineers @ Niceto Club

This is, technically, a double post. A combination of Fun Times, which is the tag I use for when I go places, and Film Goodies, which is the tag I use for sharing with you my analog photography. On November 26th, I went to The Lumineers show at Niceto Club (which you might remember from Sky's show) and it was absolutely insane. I got the tickets way back in May as "early birds" (the cheaper price for buying in such advance) and I totally forgot I was actually going to this concert until a few days later. I underestimated the show these guys could put on.  It was absolutely amazing.

We got there at around 4pm and there were only four other girls in line. Just four. Which was shocking, considering tickets were sold out for the original date (they added a second show), which is the one I went to. We brought water and cookies with us but ended up pigging out to Subway sandwiches. I am seriously considering doing this for every single concert. I never felt lightheaded or tired, which are usually my "I've been standing here for too long" symptoms.

The line was incredibly short by the time we walked into the club, so we got two spots that were literally by the stage. I was only a meter? or less? away from the whole band and it was so cool. While waiting, a girl asked me to pass them a little piece of paper once the show started with the name of her favourite cover song ("This Must Be The Place" by Talking Heads) which she hoped they would play (but didn't think they would) and they did! And it made me happy for her.

If you have ever watched a video of The Lumineers playing live, I think you would know this (I hadn't so I didn't) but one of their members, whose name is Stelth Ulvang and looks like a geeky version of Andrew Vanwyngarden, apparently not only plays barefoot the whole thing but also climbs on their instruments and plays on top of pianos and bass drums.

They played a great amount of songs and it was just so amazing and enjoyable. Things got a little bit heavy (not really, just a lot of pushing) during "Stubborn Love" and I even ended up with three bruises on one knee having never actually hit myself or fell? The sound was great, they were great and all very adorable and friendly, it was just an overall great experience. In the middle of one of their songs, I turned back (not sure why?) and I saw Melu (from My Garbage Style) and it was great because I had never met her before even though we bumped into eachother once at a vintage fair but didn't recognise one another. I looked for her afterwards and couldn't find her anywhere *sobs*

There were two of the songs (Darlene and Elouise, if I'm not going nuts) that were played from the audience. This was amazing but also sucked. Amazing because they were playing in the middle of all these people in a little circle and engaging with all of us and sucked because I couldn't see shit for being right by the stage. At least I got to touch them when they walked past us! That's something, right? By the end of the show, they were giving out the setlists and drumsticks and guitarpicks and I got one! The bassist literally placed it on my hand as if he was giving me something secret and sacred (this is me overreacting but I felt a nice connection and it made me happy).
